Elkhart, Indiana – June 15th, 2018 – Agdia, Inc. (“Agdia”) announced it has acquired the AmpliFire® product line, including all intellectual property rights, from LGC Douglas Scientific for an undisclosed amount.
The AmpliFire® is a portable fluorometer designed to perform real-time amplification and detection of various isothermal nucleic acid amplification chemistries. Agdia specializes in development and manufacturing of recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) based test kits for detection of plant pathogens under the brand name AmplifyRP®. According to Agdia, its technology offers equivalent sensitivity and specificity as laboratory-based PCR testing technologies but does so in as few as 10 minutes compared to hours or days for PCR.

Agdia confirms it will continue to service all former LGC Douglas Scientific AmpliFire® clients as well as endeavor to maintain existing distribution agreements. Agdia will manufacture AmpliFire® units at its headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana.
