Agdia, Inc Announces Commercialization of Field Test for Maize chlorotic mottle virus (MCMV).

-- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

Agdia, Inc., a leading provider of agricultural diagnostic tests and services, has commercialized a new ImmunoStrip test for detection of Maize chlorotic mottle virus (MCMV) in corn.

MCMV is of concern to corn producers because of synergistic virulence to produce Maize Lethal Necrosis Disease (MLND). MLND can manifest itself when a crop is co-infected with MCMV and a member of the Potyvirus group, such as Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV) or Maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV). African corn growing regions, where food production is vital, have been devastated by the disease in recent years, with vectors infiltrating corn production areas and spreading the viruses easily.

Agdia’s ImmunoStrip was designed where it can be used simultaneously with the Potyvirus (Poty) ImmunoStrip. The combined use of these ImmunoStrips offer producers a fast and accurate method to aid in diagnosis of MLND.

ImmunoStrip tests are designed to be performed directly in the field following a simple sample extraction and testing protocol. They require only 30 minutes to perform with positive results available in as little as 5 to 10 minutes.

MCMV and Poty ImmunoStrip kits are available in sizes of 5 and 25 tests. Kits can be ordered from Agdia by phone or on their website, www.agdia.com.  Inquiries may be sent to info@agdia.com.
