Apple mosaic virus (ApMV) is one of the pathogens responsible for rose mosaic disease. Symptoms vary, and can include line patterns, ringspots, and mottle. It is spread by propagating from infected plants, and can be brought under control with a good indexing program.
In apple, ApMV causes a variety of leaf symptoms and reductions in fruit yield of varying severity. In apple, this virus is spread mainly by grafting to infected rootstocks. ApMV also occurs in hops, birch and plum. It is difficult to transmit mechanically from woody to herbaceous hosts, but is easily transmitted by sap among herbaceous plants. ApMV is a small, isometric, RNA virus.
This test uses polyclonal antibody for capture and detection in a DAS ELISA protocol. All strains known as apple mosaic or rose mosaic are detected. Particular care should be given to the grinding and extraction of the sample.
